On March 6, 2009 the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office Investigators took a complaint on March 6 from the owner of Rocking Chair Resort. The owner said that a man, woman and two children stayed at the resort for about three weeks from Feb. 7, 2008 to Feb. 28, 2008, and then left without paying for the room charges and services, which amounted to $1,400.

The adults were identified as Kevin Taggart and Jennifer Slayton, and they fled the area before the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office could locate them. Warrants of Arrest were obtained and were on file at the Sheriff’s Office.
Later, Kevin Taggart was arrested in Michigan and sent back to Baxter County on Jan. 28. 2010 He has been in the Detention Center since that time, awaiting trial.
Baxter County Deputies have located and extradited Jennifer Slayton from the State of Michigan and sent back to Baxter County Jail this past weekend to face felony charges of theft of services by deception.
Jennifer Slayton was arraigned today, Monday March 22, 2010 and remains in the Baxter County jail with a bail set at $15,000 for one count of theft of services by deception, a felony. She is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on April 8, 2010.
