Boone County, Arkansas Sheriff Danny Hickman reports an attempted escape Thursday from Boone County District Court.

Picture Above~ Boone County deputies captured a suspect at the intersection of Ridge Avenue and Spring Street after the woman had fled Boone County District Court a few minutes earlier.

Bailiff Arlis Franklin was at district court with inmates from the Boone County Jail appearing in front of Judge Fred Kirkpatrick when he notified dispatch that an inmate had escaped. Twenty-five-year-old Agnes Martinez was supposed to appear on charges of theft of property. She was able to escape the building and started walking down the street.

Sgt. Mike Henderson apprehended Martinez approximately 4 blocks from the old federal building. She was aided by 29-year-old Dawn Smith, who provided Martinez a change of clothing. Smith was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension and obstruction of government operations and is being held on $7,500.00 bond.

Martinez was returned to jail and will face additional charges related to the attempted escape.
