Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that on Friday, March 23rd, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office received a telephone call from Todd R. Thomason, age 51 of Harrison in which Thomason made threats to a number of deputies, attorneys, and one Circuit Court Judge.
During the 12 minute phone call Thomason specifically threatened to kill Judge John Putman and local attorney Johnny Nichols, as well as others. Sheriff Danny Hickman instructed deputies to begin watching Thomason’s residence while an affidavit for his arrest was prepared.
Because of concerns about taking Thomason into custody at his home, Sergeant Marc Arnold began communicating with Thomason via telephone and email in an attempt to lure him out. After a number of communications over a period of hours, Thomason agreed to meet Arnold and left his house. As Thomason prepared to exit his driveway he was taken into custody by Sheriff’s Deputies and officers with the Arkansas State Police. Sheriff Hickman said assistance from Company E and Troop I of the Arkansas State Police helped bring a successful end to the situation without anyone being injured.
Thomason, 51, was booked into the Boone County Jail Friday evening and is being held without bond. Thomason is charged with one count of Threatening a Judicial Officer and additional charges are anticipated.
