Sheriff Danny Hickman announced that charges have been filed against a Newton County man in connection with a drive-by shooting incident in Boone County.

Sheriff Danny Hickman said Ernest Bischoff, 47, of Marble Falls was being held at the Boone County Jail after his arrest on charges of committing a Terroristic Act and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons.

Hickman said deputies responded to a residence on Highway 7 South on May 7th after a woman reported a man in a truck was driving by her house shooting a shotgun.  Deputies found marks on the side of the house that were consistent with damage from a shotgun.  Bischoff was suspected but could not immediately be located.  According to an affidavit filed by Sergeant Marc Arnold, Bischoff said he shot at the house because the people in the house had insulted his girlfriend.  Bischoff is being held on $50,000 bond.

Sheriff Keith Slape

Newton County Sheriff Keith Slape stated that deputies responded to a domestic call in the late evening of 5/15/2012 in the Marble Falls area. Deputies found suspected marijuana growing outside the residence upon arrival.

A search warrant was executed. Deputies found additional marijuana plants, bags of marijuana and marijuana seeds, drug paraphernalia and a firearm. Ernest Bishcoff, 47 was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, manufacturing a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and possession of firearms by certain persons.

The firearm was believed to have possibly been used in an earlier incident in Boone County. Boone County was notified and additional charges will come out of their agency.

Tanner Crook

Boone County Sheriff Danny Hickman announced his department has made an arrest in connection with a string of residential burglaries in Boone County.

Sgt. Richard Pemberton responded to a burglary in progress on Highway 14 in Omaha and during the investigation he identified Tanner Crook, 19, of Batavia as a suspect. Crook was taken into custody on unrelated charges by Pemberton at that time.

Using information gathered during an interview with Crook and using evidence gathered from a number of burglaries, investigators were able to determine Crook was responsible for three recent burglaries. Sheriff Hickman said Crook has been charged with Residential Burglary, Theft of Property and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and was being held on $50,000 bond at the Boone County Jail.

Coy Cook

Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that 20 year old, Coy Joseph Cook of Lead Hill was arrested Monday afternoon on a case that was initiated by the Newton County Sheriff’s Department.

A Newton County resident reported to the Newton County Sheriff’s Dept. that a check book was stolen from their residence. A number of those stolen checks were found to have been written to businesses in Boone and Baxter County.

The investigation led officers to the discovery that Cook was responsible for passing the stolen checks. Cook was arrested from his residence in Lead Hill, where a portion of those stolen checks were found to still be in his possession.

Cook remains in custody at the Boone County Jail with no bond for multiple counts of forgery 2nd degree with additional charges from other agencies anticipated.

Greg Chiello

Sheriff Danny Hickman reports the successful apprehension of Greg Chiello who was arrested in Taney County, Missouri last evening.

Through a press release yesterday the Sheriff’s Office had asked for assistance in locating Chiello who was wanted for distribution of child pornography. It is believed that a conversation was started on Facebook, the social networking site, about this request and a person recognized Chiello and notified law enforcement. Officers with the Branson Police Department followed up on the tip and were able to arrest Chiello without incident. Chiello is currently being held in the Taney County, Missouri Jail awaiting extradition to Arkansas.

Sheriff Hickman once again commends concerned citizens with helping law enforcement. He stated, “It takes us all working together to keep each one of us safe. Thank you to that person who took the time and trouble to assist us with this arrest.”
